I received an email today from Mercedes-Benz. They are announcing today that they will start selling their Smart car in America next year.The Smart car is a small "city car." It gets excellent gas mileage and is perfect for city or commute driving.Hugely popular in Europe and Canada, it has been puzzling as to why it has taken so long to bring the vehicle to the world's largest automotive market. The first models to arrive in America will have gasoline engines getting 40 MPG. The model on sale in Canada is has a diesel engine which gets 60 MPG. Eventually, the diesel model will become available in the US.At Canada.com we learn that the company sold more than double the number of Smart cars than they expected.
