Language that would have given Massachusetts Governor Romeny, a Cape Wind foe, the power to veto the alternative energy project has been removed from the Coast Guard appropriations bill. According to the Wind Farmer's Almanac, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee leaders Pete Domenici and Jeff Bingaman were able to remove any reference to the governor from the legislation. This is a big victory for America and the people of New England. The Cape Wind project will provide enough pollution-free electricity for 75% of Cape Cod region residents. The region's electricity grid relies heavily on fossil fuels (such as coal and oil) for power generation. Any non-polluting source of electricity will help the country become energy independent and reduce contribution to global warming.
