IDNR calls hearings on Canton coal mine

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will conduct administrative review hearings on the proposed North Canton strip coal mine beginning Wednesday at the Springfield IDNR office, 1 Natural Resources Way, on the state fairgrounds. The hearing is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and also is scheduled for Thursday.

Smog Advisory Affecting Much of Southern Ontario

The weather is beautiful, but a smog advisory is in effect for Toronto and much of Southern Ontario. Environment Canada says the warm temperatures mixed with low-level pollution might be making it difficult for some to breathe easy. The smog advsory will remain in place until further notice.
