EPA Proposal Compromises on Clean Air

In newly proposed standards for smog, the EPA is seeking to reduce the amount of air pollution that has been causing serious heath problems in American cities. Of course, the corporate whiners are whimpering as they have grown accustomed to being pampered by a compliant and spine-less Bush Administration. The truth is that the EPA has significantly compromised on the unanimous recommendations of their own independent scientific advisory board.The EPA scientific advisory board warned that the current smog standard "needs to be substantially reduced” and that there is “no scientific justification” for retaining a weaker standard. There will be public hearings on the proposal in the coming months.
